Stony Point NY
New Single Family Home (unbuilt)
This unbuilt house, a replacement for two small cottages destroyed in 2012 by Superstorm Sandy, was intended as a retirement home for an older couple. The house was designed to be as flood proof as possible and features an open lift as a means of entry, as well as fold-down sunscreens that act as protection for the expansive balcony glass. The house effectively “turns its back” on its boatyard site and is fully open to the Hudson River. The interior is divided between a great room and private quarters with a plumbing/mechanical/storage core between.
